NATURAL CASTILLE SOAP

Did you know that this cleansing staple dates back thousands of years to when the ancient Babylonians mixed together fats and ash to make the world’s very first soap?

Modern soaps combine advanced ingredients but the essential idea of soap as we know it is based on this historic version.

We believe the best quality bar of soap is made under the cold process method. Creating gentle soaps cured for over four to six weeks.

This traditional technique allows us to use only the best natural ingredients and essential oils suitable for sensitive skin.

DATE PASTE

Date paste, also known as date puree, is a thick, sweet mass made from dates. It is a natural alternative to processed sugar and is commonly used in Middle Eastern and North African cuisines. It has a rich, sweet flavour that is much less bitter than other natural sweeteners such as maple syrup or honey. Date paste is our ultimate favourite sweetener in our daily cacao drink recipe, as not only does it add a delicate caramel like sweetness, but is also adds more body and fibre to the cacao. Date paste can also be used as a topping for pancakes, waffles, or oatmeal, or as a sweetener in baking recipes, smoothies, and marinades. It is also a popular ingredient in traditional dishes such as falafel, hummus, and tahini sauce.

Date paste is a healthy alternative to sugar because it contains antioxidants, fibre, and minerals such as potassium, iron, and magnesium. Additionally, it has a lower glycaemic index than sugar, making it a suitable choice for those with diabetes or who are monitoring their sugar intake.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CACAO POWDER

NATURAL CACAO POWDER

Natural cocoa powder is the most common type of cocoa powder, both in stores and when used in recipes. Natural cocoa powder will be most widely available and the cheapest option for purchasing cocoa powder and contains a large amount of valuable nutrients.

DUTCH PROCESS CACAO POWDER

Dutch process cocoa powder has a smoother and more mellow flavor that gives off earthy, woodsy notes. It’s important to note that Dutch process cocoa powder is not acidic, so recipes that include this type of cocoa powder usually must include baking powder.

BLACK CACAO POWDER

Last but not least, we have black cocoa powder. While black cocoa powder is mainly used for presentation (to give your cakes or cookies a darker appearance over the traditional rich brown), it actually has a smoother, non-bitter taste and tastes less chocolate-like than natural or Dutch processed cocoa powder.
